This year marks a significant milestone for the Supreme Court of Kenya as we celebrate 12 years since our inception. Over the past decade, the Supreme Court has played a pivotal role in shaping the judicial landscape of our nation, safeguarding the Constitution, and ensuring that justice is served for all Kenyans.
To commemorate this important occasion, the Supreme Court of Kenya is proud to host a landmark conference from the 4th to 6th November 2024. This event will bring together esteemed judges, legal scholars, practitioners, and other key stakeholders from across the country and beyond. The conference will serve as a platform to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and explore the future of justice in Kenya.
Introspecting and Reflecting on the Supreme Court’s Jurisprudence: 12Years of Defending the Constitution.
There is a perception that the Court only hears presidential election petitions every five years, and that during any other period, the Court has no work.
The Conference will provide a forum for the reflection of the Court’s journey since its inception; introspection of its jurisprudence by the Court, former Justices of the Court, Senior Counsel, academic scholars and members of the public; and receiving feedback on the Court’s services and performance.
The Conference will provide an opportunity for the Justices of the Court to have one-on-one mentorship sessions with university law students.
The Conference will enhance inclusivity in the Court’s practices, procedures and policies.
The conference will feature keynote addresses from prominent figures in the legal field, including current and former Chief Justices, international jurists, and thought leaders. There will be panel discussions, interactive sessions, and workshops designed to engage participants in meaningful dialogue on the future of justice in Kenya.
As we celebrate 12 years of progress, the Supreme Court of Kenya remains committed to its mission of delivering justice impartially, effectively, and expeditiously. This conference is not just a celebration of our past achievements but a moment to reaffirm our dedication to upholding the principles enshrined in our Constitution and to envision the future of justice in Kenya.
Join us as we commemorate this milestone and continue our journey towards a more just and equitable society. We look forward to your participation in this historic event.
